There is a recent trend that is making a comeback that is getting 100s and even millions of views: day-in-the-life videos!
I know what you're thinking, especially if you are an introvert - "But Nicky, my life is pretty ordinary and maybe even boring!" Trust me, I get it. I often feel the same way about my own day-to-day routine.
But here's the thing - those ordinary, "boring" lives are exactly what people are connecting with and clicking on right now. Videos showing a day in the life of a 9-to-5 worker, a single parent, or really anyone relatable are blowing up. Why? Because viewers see themselves in that content.
Take this example - a simple video showing a day in the life of a 9-to-5 employee recently hit over 2 million views. People are hungry for that real, relatable content that reflects their own experiences:
So how can you tap into this trend, even if you think your life is "plane"? Here are 3 approaches to try:
- Focus on your role/title, not yourself personally. "A Day in the Life of a [your job/role]" is more relatable than "A Day in My Life."
- Highlight your routines - morning routines, work routines, etc. People love seeing how others structure their days.
- Use voiceovers to narrate your day, rather than talking directly to camera. This lets you show visuals of your day while adding personality through your narration.
The key is getting out of your own head about how "boring" your life might be. Remember - your ordinary day could be aspirational or educational for someone else! Your content isn't for you, it's for your audience.
